![]() We shared a shuttle with other couples headed to the same destination and Ryan and I enjoyed meeting people from other areas of the United States. This process took a little while, but once we passed through and picked up our luggage, we found our Apple Vacations representatives waiting with our ride to the resort. There aren’t a lot of flights going in/out of Cozumel on a daily basis, so there are only one or two custom officers to welcome the entire plane. When coming off the plane, we walked directly onto the tarmac before finding out way to the line for customs. Upon landing in Cozumel, we quickly recalled the small airport on the island. We flew from Kansas City with a short lay over in Atlanta, before heading into Cozumel in the early afternoon. You can learn more about what the resort offers here.ĭay one of the trip started out with an early morning flight. The resort also allowed you to rent items needed for water activities, such as snorkeling or kayaking. Secrets Aura had three main pools (with a fourth for folks belonging to their membership club) a great variety of restaurants, and plenty of activities going on throughout the day and evening. We only needed to share our room number when checking in for meals or borrowing equipment. In other resort we stayed at, we wore wristbands to denote to resort employees that we were staying there and had all inclusive rights. Something unique about the Secrets resort is that you do not have to wear wristbands. It was very nice-and had lots of activities for kids. We explored the other side of the resort a bit but never really spend any time there. We had access to it’s beach, pools, and restaurants as well, but their guests did not have privileges to Secrets. The resort is adults only and all inclusive-in our book that’s the only way to do it! Next to Secrets was it’s sister resort- Sunscape Sabor. The resort is located on the Southwest side of Cozumel island, and highly accessible to many reefs. We scored a great deal for a six day, five night stay at Secrets Aura Resort. Travel tip #1: June is a slower time of year for traveling to Mexico, so that helped with finding a nice resort for a fair price. Ruth and my Father-in-law, Stanley, gifted us with part of our trip for Christmas and we were even luckier that they watched the kids while we were gone. We booked our trip through Apple Vacations. ![]() We were blessed that Ryan’s Mom, Ruth, is a travel agent, and helped us find the best options. I hope you enjoy and find both posts helpful! In the next few days, I’ll post Part 2 where I share more about items I packed for the trip. You are reading Part 1 which talks about the trip, resort details and experiences. Because there is so much to share, I wrote two posts regarding the trip. From where we stayed to what I wore, we learned and have recommendations for others who are traveling to Mexico or somewhere else out of the country on a beach vacation. We loved our trip to Cozumel and I want to share our experiences in hopes that someone else can utilize this information. The main goal of the trip was to find time to slow down, relax, rejuvenate and reconnect as a couple. ![]() When deciding where to travel for our anniversary, it seemed like a no-brainer to go back. We honeymooned in Cozumel right after our wedding, and we still have fond memories of that trip. In honor of the momentous occasion, we planned a trip to Cozumel, Mexico. 10!?! I’m not even sure how it could be that many years, but it also feels like we have been together forever. On June 7, my husband, Ryan, and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. ![]()
